Development Resource Facility/Depository Library at Marga Institute
March 8, 2010 – World Bank Country office and Marga Institute launched a knowledge sharing partnership with a global and local knowledge sharing event on Women in Education.
“At this critical time of transition to a country in lasting peace, Sri Lanka should best utilize the power of knowledge sharing for development and reconciliation” said Naoko Ishii, World Bank Country Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives in her Opening Remarks.
A MOU was signed launching a Development Resource Facility partnership at World Bank’s only Depository Library in Sri Lanka since 1970s hosted at Marga Institute. A DRF is a ‘satellite PIC’ with access to all World Bank publications, online resources and project information. The DRF partnerships are facilitated through the World Bank Public Information Center program in Sri Lanka.
Asta Oleson, Social Development Specialist made a presentation on Gender Issues and Education in Afghanistan, followed by a presentation on Women and Education in Sri Lanka by Prof. Chandra Gunawardena.
